Jackie Robinson

Jack Roosevelt Robinson was born in 1919. He was given the nickname “Jackie” Robinson when he became the first African American to play Major League baseball.
Jackie Robinson had a tough life. His father left him when he was born. He was also the youngest of five kids. His mom was poor and she couldn't’t pay rent. Her brother said that she can move in with them in California. The house was overcrowded and Jackie’s mom needed a job. Jackie was only 17 months old.
When Jackie was growing up, he had a lot of free time. He had to get some jobs because his family was poor. He made a gang called the Pepper Street Gang. They all stole food from stores. There were no whites in this gang. There were only Chinese, Spanish, and Blacks. All of them were poor.
As Jackie grew up more, he attended John Miur High School. He was very athletic. He played in basketball, baseball, football, and track. He got many college sport scholarships. He was the only person in the school to get four different sport scholarships. He only attended a college for 2 years. He was begged to stay but he left. They offered money too. Jackie left college and signed up to be a Honolulu Bear.
Jackie Robinson went back to California to visit his mom. While he was there, the owner of the Brooklyn Dodgers, made a meeting to see Jackie. The owner wanted to get Jackie into the Major Leagues. In the next spring, Jackie went to Montreal to try-out for the team. He was the only black trying out. In the hotel that the team was staying in, blacks weren’t allowed. Jackie had to go to another hotel. The team was in Florida and the rest of the team wanted Jackie out. Jackie was sent back to Montreal early. On the first scrimmage game, Jackie was supposed to turn a double play. He didn’t get the second man out and he had a low batting average. A person on the team showed Jackie how to turn a double play and hit better. After the game, Jackie found out that he was going to be on the team.
Jackie Robinson affected the whole world as becoming the first black proffesional baseball player. He still played his best, even though he was taunted for the color of his skin.

I Know What Your Thinking

I know what your thinking. I just wanted to show how much I want the Barack Obama to be our president. It has nothing to do with Jackie Robinson, but Barack is the best.

Brooklyn Dodgers

Jackie Robinson was on the Brooklyn Dodgers. Sorry for the confusion. There was no backround for the Brokklyn Dodgers, but still enjoy.
